LINKS for the HUNT
Here are some online services I would rather not be without.
The
Eagle - Local newspaper Yard Sale classified ads. - ( ads paid buy
seller )
Craigslist
-
Local Yard Sale ads - Free to posts and often the only ad the seller runs.
Fleajocky.com - Local
free classified ads - Just a few unique post there. Not that many
people no about it.
Google Maps - Easy way to
make and print custom maps. Sign on > My maps > Create new map
- then cut and paste the addresses right off the online ads. Arrange
in the order you want to visit, and PRINT!
TOOLS for the HUNT
Hat - Indiana didn't just wear that hat for looks.
If you have a beak like mine the Texas sun can burn in off in no time.
10x Jeweler's Lupe - It gets even harder as you get
older to tell if it's marked 14K GP ( gold plum) from 14K GF ( gold
filled ), but that's two things you don't want to get confused.
Pocket Knife - For those seller who like to tape
boxes up hoping you will not find out important parts are missing until
you get home.
Food and Water - In June thought September here in Texas,
it can be 104F before you get back from yard sale shopping. You will wish
you had water if you have a flat tire.
Note Pad - Good idea to jot down the address where
you buy expensive things or items that the seller SWEAR work.
Batteries - A good way to test items in the
field.
Extension Cord - If the seller does not provide an AC
cord to test electronics, suspect they do not work. Tell them you have
your own cord so - no test, no deal.
Tubs and Tarp- To keep you findings out of sun, out of
rain ( of sprinklers) , and out of sight.
GPS Navigation - Not all yard sales are advertised. Some
will put out ONE road sign with an address thinking you know all the
streets in town. Just punch the address in your GPS off you go. I use a navigation
program on my phone. It cost about $10 a month.
